Day 4: Sunday November 13 2016 Sugar Trail:
After breakfast depart by bus to Stolkertsijver, a small village along the East-West connection in the eastern part of Suriname. Here, the guide tells you mentioned about the history of Stolkertsijver, formerly Courcabo. This former plantation for example, has two vicious women in its history and anecdotes do not lie. The guide also tells about the plantation history of this part of the Upper Commewijne River, where the first plantations were established. Then a 20 minute boat trip to Concordia, also an overgrown former plantation. Here an old cast iron water mill was recently discovered 30 meters away also an old steam mill. Day 5: Monday, November 14th, 2016 Nieuw Nickerie:
This time the journey to the west. The first stop is in the town of Groningen in the Saramacca district. This city was founded about 150 years ago by immigrants from the eponymous Dutch province. You then cross the Coppenameriver on and then went into the district Coronie. Here it was mainly English and Scots who built the first plantations. Day 6: Tuesday, November 15, 2016 Nickerie – Bigi Pan
After breakfast you will visit the market of Nickerie, and the bus takes you to the departure point for boat trips to the Bigi Pan Nature area. This is a typical “wetland” landscape with creeks, mangroves, wet and dry wetlands. This area has more than 120 species of birds, including the red and white ibis, flamingos, osprey and terns. Here you will spend in a simple lodge Stephanie the night on the water, the rooms are simply equipped with a toilet and a common room where you can relax from the exhausting days. Day 7: Wednesday, November 16, 2016 Bigi Pan – Paramaribo:
Before breakfast we go by canoe at sunrise to watch how ibises leave their shelter by hundreds (a large forest)! After breakfast you can enjoy the beautiful nature, possibly fishing, kayaking or else read a book in a hammock. After lunch you will be taken back to the jetty where the bus awaits to take you to Paramaribo.

Day 9: Friday, November 18, 2016 Palumeu:
From airport Zorg en Hoop (not far from Paramaribo) you fly in about 75 minutes to the airstrip at the Indian village Palumeu. Upon arrival you will be met by the local staff.
The holiday Palumeu has the same name as the adjacent village of Trio and Wayana Indians. In the afternoon visit the village to meet with a guide to lifestyle and crafts of the oldest inhabitants of the Amazon forest. Your cabin is built in traditional style, the cool evenings make air conditioning or a fan unnecessary. For lighting using solar energy and the meals are prepared on a wood fire with mostly Surinamese ingredients. After dinner will be discussed the following day the program is also more told about the residents of the village.

Day 10: Saturday, November 19, 2016 Palumeu:
Perhaps the call of howler monkeys was your natural alarm clock. Today you will discover the tropical rainforest. There is also the possibility to walk in the hope of some birds and maybe even see caimans on a forest path.

Day 11: Sunday, November 20, 2016 Palumeu:
After breakfast you can relax for a day at the Mabukawatervallen by canoe. There you can swim in the river, enjoy natural massage in the waterfall and lounging in a hammock. For the more energetic there is a walk through the jungle with more information on local trees, plants and animals. The area will be to help ensure that the barbecue lunch will not forget. In the late afternoon at sunset takes your guide will take you for a trip across the river to enjoy the nightly jungle sounds.

Day 12: Monday, November 21, 2016 Palumeu – Paramaribo:

Day 13 Tuesday, November 22, 2016 Commewijne tour overnight Frederiksdorp:
We drive to Leonsberg and sail with a tent boat across the Suriname and Commewijne river. We visit the plantation Rust en Werk, here and visit the dairy farm and the shrimp farm, plantation Margaret and the open air museum. At the place where the Suriname and Commewijne river congregate there to spot the dolphins. The trip ends in Frederiksdorp an old police station which was founded in 1873 on the plantation where Frederiksdorp when nearly 110 Javanese and Hindustani indentured laborers worked before there were about 200 slaves. Here we spend the night.

Day 14: Wednesday, November 23, 2016 Peperpot- The Plantation:
After breakfast you transfer Commewijne river. There awaits a van to take you to the Peperpot, where we take a walk through this natural area. Then it goes to “The Plantation”, an old coffee and cocoa plantation with simple but neat double cabins. In the evenings dining at a nice restaurant.

Day 15: Thursday, November 24, 2016 The Plantation:
After breakfast for an interesting guided walk through the forest on the old plantation about 10 hours, which is now quite taken over by the jungle. The guide will tell you a lot about the common plants, trees and animals. If it goes well, you will also see monkeys. After lunch you have the afternoon for yourself, you can still go walking, relaxing in and around (read, nap) pool

After breakfast you will be picked up at the plantation and brought to the city and dropped off at your hotel. And the day you are free. Today it is 41 years since Suriname became independent, it is widely celebrated among others in the palm grove and along the waterfront

Day 18 Sunday, November 27th, 2016 Jodensavanne – Matu island:
Through the Afobakkaweg is driven to the Carolina bridge here we cross the Suriname River to the Jewish settlement near the Indian village Redi Dotie. The cemetery, the old synagogue and the healing springs are still there. These date back to 1639 when the first Jews put foot in Suriname. After this interesting and instructive walk we continue our journey to the nearby creek Blakawatra, then we go to Matu island. Matu island is one of the shaped islands that arose when they developed the reservoir. It’s about 40 minutes from the dam, and you will drown many trees encounter during your trip on the lake. On Matu island you will find a lodge with several rooms where we spend our night.

Day 19 Monday, November 28th, 2016 Matu island – Berg en Dal:
After lunch we depart from Matu island to Berg en Dal where we will stay one night in lodges that have been built throughout the park. You can swim as well as relax …

In the morning after breakfast there is the opportunity to make a walking a half hour to the graves of the founders of the plantation Berg and Dal. After lunch we depart from Berg and Dal to the airport Zanderij.

Day 21 Wednesday, November 30th, 2016 Arrival Schiphol:
In the morning you will arrive at Schiphol airport.
