Ston Island is a peninsula, located on the right bank of the reservoir. You have a breathtaking view of the “lake” with distinctive tree tops that protrude above the water. Ston Island is the ultimate place for canoeing, swimming, fishing or relaxing. The possibility also exists to make a trip by canoe on the reservoir. As part of the tour to Ston Island, you will visit the Brownsberg. Brownsberg is the ideal place if you want to enjoy the entire range of flora and fauna that Surinam rainforest has to offer. On the mountain you can enjoy a stunning view of the surrounding area. So you look down on the Van Blommenstein reservoir and hear you loud roar the monkeys in the area.

Day program
Day 1**

After leaving the town towards Brownsberg in district Brokopondo, we make after about an hour away a stop at Paranam (the bauxite refinery). During this break, you will be spoiled with delicious coffee or tea and a delicious snack. We make direct use of the opportunity to give you some information about the bauxite occur in Suriname since early 1900. Upon arriving on the plateau at the top of the mountain (± 500m), you can while enjoying some fruit and a cool drink experience the magnificent view that Brownsberg offers including the Van Blommenstein reservoir.

After this, our experienced guide takes you on an interesting walk in the woods in the interior of Suriname to the lower idyllic waterfalls. Many participants of our Brownsberg trip chooses to seek a welcome coolness to go under the falls. Then uphill returns you to the plateau of the Brownsberg to enjoy a hot lunch. In the late afternoon we depart for Ston Island, a peninsula on the reservoir, where we stay in simple cabins with beds and mosquito nets. In the evening we then go on to the evening meal and we can enjoy a beautiful starry sky, cozy at the campfire.

Day 2 **
You will be immersed in nature awakened by the roar of the howler monkeys, not to mention the whistle of the various bird species. Between 06:00 and 06:30 am, you can enjoy a beautiful sunrise. After breakfast you are an adventurous canoe trip on the artificial lake with a traditional canoe made from a hollowed tree trunk. The possibility also exists to make a trip on a motorized korjaal on the artificial lake *. This morning you can fish, swim and / or relax. After lunch we head towards Paramaribo where we will be back around 18:00.
